To the extended Lapanaitis family, I am extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Thea Panagiota ‘Patty’ Lapanaitis. She was truly the matriarch of the family – always bringing everyone together to celebrate any occasion and bring happiness wherever she could. She was a mother not only to her children, but to anyone fortunate to know her. Thea Panagiota always radiated positive energy and always showed a genuine interest in others, offering her time to listen, and made you feel special. She expressed her love through her cooking and preparation of meals – so much so that she needed two kitchens - such was the number of family and friends she welcomed into her home. She was the most gracious host and always carried great conversations…I’m forever grateful to have been welcomed into the family and experience Thea’s delicious food, great conversations and generous hospitality. I know that Thea Panagiota not only leaves you all with many, many fond memories, but she also a legacy for future generations to follow – a legacy of caring, empathy, kindness and an absolute steely resolve mixed with good humour. Her greatest gift to her family and friends, was to show every single one of them they were loved. Our heartfelt thoughts are with your family. Rest in Peace, Thea. Chris Tzarimas (Billabong) and family.

For many, a funeral is a ritual of loss and connection where we remember our loved ones who have passed and comfort the living. The coronavirus outbreak has altered that ritual and changed the way we say goodbye: the loss remains, the connections change.
The family has the difficult decision of which ten people will attend the funeral. They are aware that many of you would like to attend but unfortunately, due to the restrictions in place, it is not possible.
Following the service, a replay of the service will be available for viewing.
